Setting the Scene… Why Security, Privacy and Freedom?

I don’t think this site needs much introduction – the name says it all. But maybe you would like to know something about the blogger behind it.

Of course, I’m writing about privacy, so I’m not going to tell you a lot about myself or upload my photo. But here’s what you need to know. My name is Peter Macfarlane. At least that’s the name I write under. It’s not the name I was born with. I’m a passionate believer in individual liberty and small government. Government to me is a problem, not a solution. But I’m not a ranter who wants to change the world. Instead, I’m an optimist and I believe in practical solutions. Things you can do, useful information that can help individuals like you achieve their goals. So that’s what I will be writing about here.

Example: if you don’t like where you are at now, the practical solution is to move to somewhere you do like!.

Your time and effort is much better spent trying to arrange things in the best way for you and your family, than in trying to correct all the wrongs in the world.

I am a journalist and writer. I already have a blog about offshore banking and financial matters over at www.petermacfarlane.net and I am joint editor of www.qwealthreport.com which is dedicated to helping people preserve and grow wealth. I travel extensively (mainly in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean) and also write articles for Q Wealth about living abroad.

So why did I decide to set up this new blog?  Here I will post entries when I can about Security, Privacy and Freedom, that might be a little off-topic on the other two sites. Equally, people who like my material on the other sites, who think on the same wavelength and want to read more, have a new home here.

My definitions of Security, Privacy and Freedom are quite broad. Security might mean anything from protecting yourself against ID theft, to acquiring a second citizenship. Privacy means avoiding other people watching what you are doing – a basic human right that is under a great deal of threat these days.  Freedom is something that you cannot have with Security and Privacy.

I favour quality over quantity so I won’t be churning out a vast amount of content. But what I do post here will be original and exclusive. Sometimes you might find it shocking, but I hope you find most of it enjoyable – and above all useful.

Please feel free to email me info@security-privacy-freedom.com with your comments and feedback. I’ll look forward to it.
